Time Being Viewing the new paintings of Marisa Purcell is an engulfing experience. You are asked to consider your peripheries and the things that lie beneath the surface of your own reality. Relationships are forged between the inner and outer world and a strange mix of imagery heighten your senses. Purcell's paintings are a highly personal blend of abstract and representational imagery. Her work incorporates an eclectic range of visual references, including Buddhist painting, and Arabic ornamentation with images from her environment, both present and remembered. Time Being explores relationships between surface and form, colour and the mark and the painting itself as a stage. |
